Enhanced AT-CTI One Year Program


This program is designed to meet the entry requirements that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has establish for a for an entry level position an air traffic controller for the tower option. Entry in this program does not guarantee employment with the Federal Aviation Administration which is based on their staffing/hiring needs, medical requirements, and security clearances.

A maximum age of 30 years is established for initial entry into air traffic control positions (2152 series) covered by Public Law 92-297. Persons who have reached their 31st birthday may not be appointed to these positions.

This certificate program is meant for students who either have a bachelor’s, or associate degree with combined work experience equaling to three years.

This program requires the ATSA - Air Traffic Skills Assessment Exam which is given in January, and July of each year.  A student must have earned a rating of Best or Well Qualified on the ATSA. This exam may be repeated once each year if necessary and results are valid for three years.

All courses require Department approval.

To qualify for the FAA Evaluation (ATC 590 ) a student is required to have a score of 80% or better in the pre-evaluation (ATC 585 ). The final score by, an FAA approved evaluator examiner in the evaluation (ATC 590 ) must be 70.0% or better to receive the recommendation to the FAA. Any score below 70% is not qualified.

All courses must be completed with a grade of 70% or better. ATC585, passing grade is 80.0%

All sections of the required courses will be assigned either a section 35 for virtual, and/or Section 5 for in-person.
